Problogging Leaks

Over at Jack of All Blogs, David Krug talks about an upcoming Erati Media project: Problogging:

To me blogging for the most part is made up of the middle class white male. This is my vision for ProBlogging. To move past that. To be able to bring at home moms, college students, grandparents into the mix. To give them a better chance to make money with their blogs. To create simple, affordable ways fo make money online.

Truthfully we don’t need another blog about blogging. We need a central location in which to empower people to achieve their dreams through the simple tools of communcation. Whether making money is your goal, or building up your business through the power of blogging.

I wanted to find a talented writer to write for me. Someone who would write with passion, and a vision already implanted. I found that in Ben Bleikamp. Next, I needed to get the brightest minds in the blogging industry to share their content in order to help make this dream become a reality. I figured this would be the easy part. Ask a few leaders in the blogging community to share their site feeds. A funny thing happened, the bigger players said sure. Let’s see this thing grow. The smaller and medium players have yet to respond. Interestingly enough. I find this mind numbing.

Ben Bleikamp adds over at College-Startup:

David’s vision for the site is great, and it fits well with what I want to see happen. Blogging is not something you have to be a 25-35 year old white guy to do. I’m not even 20 yet and I run a “popular” blog. I want to use Problogging.com to show people how it can be done and how it can be profitable.

b5media launches two new blogs

Flu Patrol:

This is a great little blog that we’ve been working on for some time. The public health issues surrounding the flu are incredible. Written by experienced b5′er and past About Weblogs writer Adelle Tilton, Flu Patrol is a definitive source of news, information and opinion on the future of the flu.

Play Designs:

The Video Games Channel continues to grow! Most of the current blogs there are decidedly for gamers. All types of gamers. Girls, retro-lovers, FPS fraggers and so forth. The next few blogs in the channel will be a slight departure, though, as we do our best to follow that which is of interest to cover that which is of interest to people in the entire industry.

So, our newest blog is Play Designs, which focusses on the design and development side of gaming. Written by newish b5′er Amber Loe who also writes The Adventuress here at b5. Thankfully, Amber takes a sidelong glance at game development – not too serious, but not too corny either. Kind of like vodka.

Syntagma Media launches Aristocracy Anecdotes

Syntagma Medialaunches Aristocracy Anecdotes:

Roll up, roll up for a bit of razmatazz! (Where’s Jeremy Wright when you need him?)

In partnership with our amazingly successful Royal Anecdotes, today we launch its twin, Aristocracy Anecdotes – Amusing Tales of Toffs Past and Present. Even if you’re a bit bolshie, how could you resist?

The Technocrat Soapbox has joined the Blue Fish Network

The Technocrat Soapbox has joined the Blue Fish Network:

Mobile Crunch joins the Web 2.0 Workgroup

MobileCrunch has been invited to join the Web 2.0 Workgroup. For those of you unfamiliar with it:

“The Web 2.0 Workgroup is a network of premium weblogs that write content about the new generation of the Web. Combined, these sites reach a large readership of influential technology and media professionals.”

This humble sentence belies the depth and breadth of talent in the membership. From founder Michael Arrington, author of TechCrunch
to Microsoft Technical Evangelist, Robert Scoble designer par excellence and the generous creator of the MobileCrunch theme, Frederico Oliviera publisher of WeBreakStuff, my friend and fellow Mobilist Ajit Joakar at OpenGardens and a host of other luminaries that I hold in high esteem and more than a little awe. Truly I am humbled to be in such company and grateful for the chance to work with, listen to and learn from some of the most brilliant minds shaping today’s technologies.

Chartreuse on standing out in a crowd

Chartreuse writes about how to make your network stand out from the crowd. One lesson:

Don’t repeat the formula. Constantly evolve. Madonna taught us this, and Google reinforced the paradigm. If you’re not growing, you’re losing your audience. Why should they expect your site to always look the same and say the same things?

b5media launches Christian Music Fan

b5media has launched Christian Music Fan, their first Christian related blog:

However, topics in certain areas have been borderline religious, but we’ve begun letting them through. Today’s blog, for example, isn’t a religious blog so much as… Well, I’ll let it speak for itself.

Christian Music Fan written by Uncover The Internet’s Wendy Boswell is an insider look at the Christian music scene. News, concerts, new CD’s, interviews, etc.

As you can see, it isn’t a religious blog so much as a resource for those who happen to be religious. Which we’re excited about. Any time we can provide a resource for people who don’t have very many blogs in areas they are interested in we get excited.

This is perhaps the oddest introduction ever to a blog, however we wanted to clear up why we were launching this, ie: not for religious reasons, but as part of the Entertainment Channel’s growing coverage of niche areas.

So, if you happen to be a Christian, and you happen to enjoy music, this could well be a great blog to subscribe to. I’m hopeful Wendy will take the opportunity to showcase new, unsigned music as well
