“Blog Network” Should Have Been On Google Zeitgeist 0

Google ends every year with a bang with a zeitgeist, or a compilation of the top popular search keywords throughout the year (in terms of growth, and not just raw numbers, since many generic searches repeat each year). For 2006, most of the top rating ones were about social media and Web 2.0. This includes wikipedia, MySpace and even Bebo (which is relatively unknown, compared to MySpace).

I’m wondering why the term “blog network” is not included. From a Google Trends search, the term seems to have risen in 2006 from nil in mid-2005.

I’m wondering why there’s no coverage on Google News, too (the bottom part of the trends window), particularly since some major blogs on the blogging industry–partiuclarly the Blog Herald–have been syndicated by Google News for some time.

At any rate, maybe we have better things in store this 2007.
